DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF NEW MEXICO: DPNM Chair Wraps Up 33 County Virtual Tour With Stop in Valencia

Announcement

Democratic Party of New Mexico issued the following announcement on May 28.

Democratic Party of New Mexico (DPNM) Chair Marg Elliston this week wrapped up her 33 county virtual tour with a stop in Valencia county. She was joined for the event by Representative Xochitl Torres Small and local Democratic leaders.

Over the last month and a half, Chair Elliston met with Democrats from every New Mexico county through Zoom meetings. She used this tour as an opportunity to share DPNM initiatives related to upcoming primary elections, campaigning during COVID-19, and delegate selection. She was also able to hear from activists and party leaders about local phone banking efforts, challenges related to COVID-19, and expectations for the 2020 election cycle.

Chair Elliston was joined on several of her stops by statewide and federal elected Democrats, including Representative Ben Ray Luján, Representative Deb Haaland, Representative Xochitl Torres Small, Lieutenant Governor Howie Morales, and State Auditor Brian Colón. Candidates for local and state races also often joined the discussion.

“I was so grateful to have the opportunity to hear directly from Democrats across New Mexico even in these uncertain times,” said DPNM Chair Marg Elliston. “COVID-19 has made traditional campaign work impossible, but Democrats are just as committed to hearing from voters in every corner of our state. No matter where we went, I saw incredible energy among these activists who are ready to meet any challenge and keep New Mexico blue in 2020.”
