DONA ANA COUNTY NM: Doña Ana County Clerk’s Office Announces Election Official Online Training for 2020 Primary Election

Dona Ana County NM issued the following announcement on Apr. 24. 

In response to New Mexico Governor Lujan Grisham’s declaration of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency and guidance from White House officials restricting large gatherings, the Doña Ana County Clerk’s Office is hosting Online Training for Election Officials for the 2020 Primary Election, on:

o Early Voting Training 1 – April 30, 2020, 2:00 pm – 5:30 pm

o Absentee Board Training – May 1, 2020, 2:00 pm – 4:30 pm

o Early Voting Training 2 – May 15, 2020, 2:00 pm – 5:30 pm

o Election Day Trainings:

  • May 18, 2020, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm
  • May 19, 2020, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm
  • May 20, 2020, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm
  • May 21, 2020, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm
  • May 22, 2020, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm
  • May 23, 2020, 9:30 am – 12:00 pm
  • May 23, 2020, 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm
Interested parties who are not election officials will need to pre-register at elections@donaanacounty.org, and the Bureau of Elections’ staff will monitor attendance. 

Election officials will receive training in opening and closing the polls, setting up voting equipment, and issuing ballots. Information on safety precautions, the use of personal protective equipment and social distancing protocols will also be included in the training. 

“We recognize Election Officials are essential workers,” said Clerk Amanda López Askin. “Doña Ana County will continue to follow the lead of the governor, along with state and federal public health officials, to ensure the safety of our voters and Election Officials, while maintaining the integrity of the election process at voting convenience centers.”
