Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on June 10.
Beginning Wednesday, June 17, 2020, all Department of Defense ID cardholders will be allowed full access to Holloman Air Force Base, including retirees.
This ease in base access posture will make a number of base services available to more users including the Commissary, gas station and Base Exchange.
In an effort to protect the health and wellbeing of the Holloman community, all individuals attempting to access Holloman will continue to be asked:
- Have you tested positive for COVID-19?
- Have you had direct contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19?
- Have you been outside of New Mexico in the last 14-days?
Individuals might not be able to access the base depending on their responses. If you plan
All individuals utilizing base services must maintain physical distancing, comply with mask and face covering policies, limit shoppers per household, and use safe hygiene practices like washing hands.
“We realize that temporarily limiting our base access was frustrating and inconvenient for a lot of people,” said Col. Ryan Keeney, 49th Wing commander. “There are a lot of unknowns with this disease, and we needed to keep the number of people accessing the base and interacting with the base population to an absolute minimum. As the nation gets a handle on how this disease works, we can open up the base a bit and continue to get our mission done. Our retirees for example are a vital part of our community. We are thrilled that the current data supports us getting them back on base, and re-starting more of the services our local community depends on.”
