Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has announced new support initiatives for individuals in New Mexico who have recently lost federal employment. The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions, in collaboration with the State Personnel Office and the Economic Development Department, is spearheading this effort.

The initiative offers a dedicated resource web page, recruitment events, and access to education and training opportunities. "We are committed to ensuring that New Mexicans who have been abruptly dismissed from federal jobs have the resources and support they need to transition smoothly into new career opportunities," stated Gov. Lujan Grisham. She emphasized that state agencies and partners are working together to provide job assistance, education, and training.

The resource page can be accessed on the Department of Workforce Solutions website at WorkForNM.com or www.dws.state.nm.us/FederalWorkerResources. It provides essential information about unemployment insurance, job search support, and frequently asked questions. This centralized hub aims to make it easier for affected workers to find necessary resources.

Recruitment events are planned at America’s Job Center New Mexico locations on February 28 in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, and March 7 in Carlsbad and Las Cruces, both from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. These events will include employers ready to hire from state agencies, private businesses, and local municipalities. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore career options, network with potential employers, and learn about educational programs for career advancement.

Individuals interested in state government positions can view openings on the State Personnel website at www.spo.state.nm.us.

Federal workers separated from their jobs are encouraged to apply for Unemployment Insurance online at www.jobs.state.nm.us, by phone at 1-877-664-6984, or in person at any America’s Job Center New Mexico location. More information is available at www.dws.state.nm.us/UIQuickFacts.
