Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has expressed approval following a decision by the New Mexico Supreme Court, which unanimously invalidated abortion restrictions imposed by certain conservative local governments. The governor's statement highlighted the importance of healthcare decisions being made between women and their doctors rather than politicians.

“Today’s unanimous Supreme Court decision affirms what we’ve known all along – healthcare decisions belong to New Mexican women and their doctors, not politicians," said Gov. Lujan Grisham. She emphasized that despite differing opinions in some communities, the state constitution and laws clearly prohibit any city or county from limiting fundamental rights or overriding state law.
