The Las Cruces Police Department has introduced two new ordinances aimed at addressing local crime issues. Residents are encouraged to participate in the upcoming work session on Monday, April 29, to provide their input.

The proposed ordinances focus on shopping cart containment and retrieval, as well as solicitation regulations. The full text of these ordinances can be accessed online.

A special City Council work session will discuss these ordinances exclusively. While public comments and questions are permitted during the session, no voting will take place until a formal City Council meeting.

Community members are urged to share their personal experiences related to shopping carts or panhandling when contacting council members or speaking at the session. Respectful communication is advised for maximum impact.

Residents can email council members individually or attend the work session in person at City Hall, located at 700 N Main St, Las Cruces.
