Las Cruces City Council has passed ordinances addressing shopping cart possession, soliciting and loitering on roadways and narrow medians, and aggressive panhandling. The measures aim to direct individuals into treatment programs.

Mayor Eric Enriquez, along with Councilors Becki Graham, Cassie McClure, and Bill Mattiace, supported the initiatives proposed by LCPD Chief Jeremy Story.

Community groups such as CCIA, Businesses for a Safer Las Cruces, and Neighborhood Watch Associations played significant roles in advocating for these changes.
