Following a months-long investigation involving undercover agents, the New Mexico Department of Justice’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Division has arrested Jonathan Anzures. The 36-year-old was found to be sharing torrents containing Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) on the BitTorrent Network. Anzures now faces charges of possession and distribution of CSAM featuring children under the age of 13, as per NMSA 1978, Sections 30-6A-3(A), (C).
The case against Anzures is part of the broader mission of the New Mexico ICAC Task Force. The task force's goal is to locate, track, and capture internet child sexual predators and pornographers in New Mexico. Over 90 federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies are associated with the New Mexico ICAC Task Force. The task force's operations are funded by an Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) grant administered by the New Mexico Department of Justice.
The department encourages anyone with information relating to suspected child predators to contact federal or local law enforcement or make an anonymous report through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at http://www.missingkids.org/cybertipline or by calling 1-800-THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678).
