Governors Lujan Grisham of New Mexico and Gordon of Wyoming have joined hands in the National Governors Association (NGA) Disagree Better Initiative, emphasizing the importance of respectful communication and finding common ground in a divided political landscape.

Governor Lujan Grisham highlighted the significance of respectful dialogue, stating, "At a time of deep partisan division in our nation, Gov. Gordon and I would like to remind our fellow Americans that the best way to resolve our differences and find common ground is by communicating respectfully with one another." She further added, "If all of us could strive to ‘disagree better’ it would elevate our discourse and make our country stronger."

Governor Gordon echoed the sentiment of collaboration and understanding, acknowledging their differing political views but shared goals. He expressed, "While we may disagree on a number of issues, Governor Lujan Grisham and I have been able to find common ground in places by showing respect for one another when we approach an issue from different perspectives." Gordon emphasized the importance of listening and mutual respect in achieving positive outcomes, stating, "We are both willing to listen. We are both willing to kid one another, and I believe these are qualities that have made our nation great."

The National Governors Association's Disagree Better Initiative aims to cultivate healthy conflict resolution skills, encouraging constructive political discourse and building trust in political institutions. Through their collaboration and shared commitment to civil discourse, Governors Lujan Grisham and Gordon exemplify the value of respectful communication in fostering cooperation and progress.
