Bernalillo County issued the following announcement on Dec. 18.
Bernalillo County Parks, Recreation and Open Space Division has completed improvement work on the Alameda Boulevard medians.
The project, which began in 2015, involves new irrigation, plants and trees, ground cover and gravel overlays to improve the aesthetic of the medians and improve visibility for motorists and pedestrians.
“I am so proud that this beautification initiative could be completed before my eight years on the commission are done,” says County Commission Chair Lonnie Talbert. “This is the perfect farewell to my district and I’m glad we could make beautiful things happen.”
The project cost approximately $260,000 and was financed primarily through capital outlay funds and general obligation bonds.
