CITY OF RIO RANCHO: “Light it Up White Month” in Rio Rancho

Lights

City of Rio Rancho issued the following announcement on Apr. 1.

In recognition and appreciation of all essential workers--from health care workers, delivery drivers, and grocery store workers to first responders and sanitation workers--who are still working every day during the COVID-19 pandemic, Mayor Gregg Hull has proclaimed April 2020 as “Light it Up White Month” in Rio Rancho.

“In these troubling times, it is so important to recognize and thank those who are working every day to keep our city safe, healthy, and as normal as possible,” said Mayor Gregg Hull. “In an effort to recognize and thank the front line workers, I am proclaiming April 2020 as ‘Light it Up White Month’ in Rio Rancho.”

Throughout the month of April, residents are encouraged to show their appreciation for all those on the front lines by adorning their homes and places of business with white, or any color available, twinkle lights. Residents can also show their appreciation by placing a ‘thank you’ sign in a street-facing window of their home. In order to abide by the statewide Stay-at-Home order, the City is not encouraging people to go out and purchase twinkle lights. Instead, please use any color of lights that are on-hand or make a ‘thank you’ sign.

Additionally, if residents have videos or pictures of their lights, signs, or any other creative ways they are showing appreciation, the City asks that they post them to social media using the #becausewecareRR hashtag.
