The New Mexico Lottery has collaborated with the Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe to launch a new series of Scratchers in celebration of the Zozobra festival. The Zozobra 2025 Scratchers, which are now available for purchase, feature artwork from three winning artists: Raymond Archuleta from Medanales, and Elizabeth Dominguez and Rene Leninger, both from Albuquerque. Their names and artworks are displayed on the back of each Scratcher.

David Barden, CEO of the New Mexico Lottery, stated, “Zozobra is unique to New Mexico and is a recognizable icon for a New Mexico Lottery game. We are thrilled to partner with the Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe, who like us, raise funds for New Mexico’s future.”

Raymond G. Sandoval, Zozobra Event Chairman added, “Together, Kiwanis and the New Mexico Lottery are in the business of transforming gloom into hope! While Kiwanis ignites the spirit by burning Zozobra...the Lottery fuels dreams by opening doors to education and opportunity for our youth.”

The Scratchers offer prizes up to $25,000 and include a second-chance promotion where participants can win up to $100,000.

This year marks the 101st Burning of Zozobra in Santa Fe. The event features a 50-foot-tall marionette filled with items intended to be forgotten. As part of this annual tradition organized by the Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe at summer's end, Zozobra is set ablaze as part of an effort to leave behind past worries.

Since its inception in 1996, the New Mexico Lottery has contributed over $1 billion towards education through Legislative Lottery Scholarships. These scholarships have enabled more than 155,000 students to attend college.
