FOIA Request to Valencia County NM Clerk & Election Division Regarding Information on Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Enchantment State News have sent a formal request to the Valencia County NM Clerk & Election Division under the New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act, 14-2-1 NMSA 1978 et seq.
The information requested pertains to the list of all candidates running in the upcoming elections. Specifically, we have asked for details including the candidates' first, middle and last names, the office they are running for, their jurisdiction of office and party affiliation. In addition, we have also requested contact information for each candidate such as their address, phone number and email address.
As a media organization, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
