CITY OF SANTA FE: Short Term Rentals Still Not Allowed To Operate

Rent

City of Santa Fe issued the following announcement on May 7.

The City of Santa Fe wants to remind homeowners, landlords and visitors that Short Term Rentals are still prohibited under the governor’s emergency Public Health Order.

Under the statewide Amended Public Health Order issued by New Mexico Department of Health Cabinet Secretary Kathyleen M. Kunkel on April 30, 2020, short term vacation rentals, apartments, and houses are not permitted to operate except to provide housing to health care workers who reside out of state but are engaged in the provision of care to New Mexico residents. https://cv.nmhealth.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/DOH-PHO-4-29-essential-businesses-mass-gatherings-fv.pdf

The State is also requiring all interstate visitors who fly into our area to self-quarantine for two weeks, but even visitors who arrive in Santa Fe by driving are urged take steps to mitigate the spread of COVID in our community.

These steps should include:

  • Minimize non-essential travel, shopping
  • Wear a mask in public areas such as stores
  • Maintain social distance minimum 6 feet
  • No groups larger than 5 people, even on trails and parks
We ask that those wishing to visit Santa Fe from out of state abide by all self-quarantine requirements, and encourage operators of short-term rentals to refund or credit any guests wishing to cancel or postpone existing reservations.

Santa Fe is still doing everything it can to slow the spread of Coronavirus and “Flatten The Curve,” we need to continue to be diligent in our efforts moving forward.

Santa Fe is famous for its hospitality and warm welcomes. Please helps us stay healthy while enjoying our beautiful City Different.
