The New Mexico Office of Science and Technology (OST), a division of the Economic Development Department (EDD), is partnering with The Arrowhead Center at NMSU to provide activities developed in response to the COVID-19 health emergency.

Specifically, The Arrowhead Center is focusing on assisting with the challenges businesses are facing with telework and online platforms. The OST sponsorship supports efforts of The Arrowhead Center by helping to offset the cost of microgrants for this program.

The Arrowhead Center Programs that fall under this sponsorship include:

  • BizSprint accelerator program. The program will take place online and is free of charge. Participating businesses will receive mentoring, coaching, and micro-grants that can be applied towards business development. This program is no longer accepting applicants. More than 178 participants have registered for the program.
  • The National Science Foundation (NSF) is calling for The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)/ Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) proposals that address COVID-19 needs, including medical devices, sterilization advances, and environmental technologies. The deadline for submission is May 1, and the program will run from May 25 – August 14. You can apply now on the NSF website at www.nsf.gov.
  • Video Series focused on support for businesses during COVID-19. Videos will be added to the series weekly and some are already available. The Entrepreneur Insights series of videos will also be released weekly starting the week of April 27. You can view them all, as they are released, on YouTube.
  • NMFAST and OST co-hosted a webinar focusing on Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)/Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. It covers responses to the COVID-19 pandemic by the different funding agencies such as NASA, Dept. of Defense (DOD), and National Institutes of Health (NIH). This webinar also highlights an overview of the SBIR/STTR programs and federal and state avenues of support.
