Dissatisfaction with the economic state of affairs has the New Mexico Republican Party calling for a special session.
The state’s economy, like many others in the nation, is struggling under the weight of the coronavirus pandemic. At least one party leader believes actions in Santa Fe have exacerbated the problem.
“Thanks to the irresponsible spending the governor is saying that we will be having a special session. We tried to warn her,” state Sen. Craig Brandt (R-Rio Rancho) wrote on his Facebook site.
The party itself noted monies in the amount of $100 million have been directed from an endowment by the state. The funds will go toward medium-sized businesses with approximately 50 employees and $10 million to $15 million in annual revenue, the Santa Fe New Mexican reported.
