New Mexico joins multi-state lawsuit against Live Nation-Ticketmaster for alleged monopolistic practices
New Mexico has joined nine other states in a civil antitrust lawsuit filed by the Justice Department against Live Nation-Ticketmaster. The suit, which includes 29 other states and the District of Columbia, alleges monopolization and other unlawful conduct in violation of Sections 1 and 2 of the Sherman Act.

New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez announced the launch of the New Mexico Department of Justice’s Internet Safety webpage. The page features an “experience form” where parents and teens can share their past or current issues with social media platforms. These submitted experiences will help inform a broader campaign set to be announced later this summer.

Las Cruces, NM – This morning, Attorney General Raúl Torrez announced that the New Mexico Department of Justice (NMDOJ) is launching an investigation into Memorial Medical Center following allegations that the hospital has refused to treat indigent cancer patients, failed to screen patients for financial assistance, and denied medical services to patients in violation of New Mexico law.

Attorney General Torrez comments on sentencing of Sergio Almanza
Sergio Almanza was sentenced to 25 years in prison today for the death of 7-year-old Pronoy Bhattacharya at the River of Lights holiday celebration in 2021. Pronoy’s mother, Deepshikha Chowdhury, addressed the judge, stating, “Every moment of my day is spent thinking about Pronoy. I want Pronoy to know, wherever he may be, that justice was served today.”

Izaiah Garcia sentenced to life plus 13 years for Cayla Campos's murder
Izaiah Garcia was sentenced to life plus 13 years in the New Mexico Department of Corrections for the murder of Cayla Campos, a 21-year-old woman. The sentencing was handed down by Judge Joseph Montano on July 2, 2024. Garcia had been convicted of first-degree murder on February 29, 2024.

Cody McDonald sentenced to 18 years for second-degree murder
Silver City, NM – Judge Jarod Hofacket sentenced Cody McDonald to 18 years in the New Mexico Department of Corrections for the murder of 22-year-old Daniel Murillo. On April 12, 2024, the New Mexico Department of Justice secured a guilty conviction against McDonald. He was found guilty of second-degree murder and tampering with evidence by a Grant County jury.

Man arrested for sharing child abuse material on BitTorrent network
Following a months-long investigation involving undercover agents, the New Mexico Department of Justice’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Division has arrested Jonathan Anzures. The 36-year-old was found to be sharing torrents containing Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) on the BitTorrent Network. Anzures now faces charges of possession and distribution of CSAM featuring children under the age of 13, as per NMSA 1978, Sections 30-6A-3(A), (C).
