A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the Dona Ana County NM Clerk & Election Division regarding details of candidates running in the upcoming spring elections. The request was sent on February 5, 2025.
The request, made by Enchantment State News, a media organization dedicated to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, sought information under the New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act, 14-2-1 NMSA 1978 et seq.
We at Enchantment State News requested a list of all candidates that are running for the upcoming election. The details asked for each candidate included their first, middle and last names; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; party affiliation; and contact information such as address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization committed to transparency and holding public institutions accountable, we believe access to public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities.
