FOIA Request to Santa Fe County NM Clerk & Election Division Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
In a bid to ensure transparency and hold public institutions accountable, we at Enchantment State News have sent a request for information under the New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act, 14-2-1 NMSA 1978 et seq. Our request was specifically directed towards obtaining a comprehensive list of all candidates running in the upcoming election.
The details we sought included each candidate's first, middle, and last names, the office they are running for, jurisdiction of the office, and their party affiliation. Additionally, we requested all available contact information for each candidate - this includes their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization committed to providing accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that our role in disseminating information makes us eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
We await a positive response from the Santa Fe County NM Clerk & Election Division and will continue our efforts in bringing transparency to local governance through diligent reporting.
