FOIA Request to Taos County NM Clerk & Election Division Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
Enchantment State News, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, has sent a formal request under the New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act, 14-2-1 NMSA 1978 et seq., to the Taos County NM Clerk & Election Division.
The request was made for a list of all candidates running in the upcoming election. The information sought includes the first, middle, and last names of each candidate; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; party affiliation of the candidate; and all contact information for each candidate including address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, we at Enchantment State News believe access to public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional.
