FOIA Request to Curry County NM Clerk & Elections Division Regarding Information on Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
In our continued efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Enchantment State News have sent a request under the New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act, 14-2-1 NMSA 1978 et seq., to the Curry County NM Clerk & Elections Division.
Our request is focused on obtaining a list of all candidates running in the upcoming election. The information we seek includes the candidates' first, middle, and last names; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; and their party affiliation. We also requested contact information for each candidate, including their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization dedicated to transparency and accountability in public institutions, access to such public records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that as media professionals involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver.
