A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Mora County NM Clerk & Election Division regarding the candidates for the upcoming spring election on February 5, 2025.
As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Enchantment State News have requested detailed information about all the candidates running in this election. This request was made under the New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act, 14-2-1 NMSA 1978 et seq.
The records requested include the first, middle, and last names of each candidate along with the office they are running for and its jurisdiction. We have also asked for their party affiliation. To facilitate direct communication with these candidates for potential interviews or clarifications, we've requested their contact information as well - including their address, phone number, and email address.
As members of the media, our role is to gather and report news to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. We believe that as media professionals involved in disseminating information, we are eligible for a fee waiver.
