APD Detectives Arrest Man for Overnight Stabbing Death

Sr34

ALBUQUERQUE – Homicide detectives arrested 29-year-old Augustus Brasmer and charged him for the overnight stabbing death in front of the Sunshine Theatre in Downtown Albuquerque.

Brasmer is accused of fatally stabbing Sheldon Saunders during a fight in front of the theater, located at 120 Central Ave. S.W.

Officers responded to reports of the stabbing shortly after 10 p.m. Witnesses, including security staff from the theatre, said the two men were fighting on the sidewalk. After being separated, Brasmer produced a pocket knife, and while pushing Saunders against a car in the street, stabbed him in the chest. Security video matched what witnesses told police.

Saunders was transported to the hospital and died as a result of his wounds.

Brasmer was booked overnight at the Metro Detention Center and charged with murder.
