Congressional Record publishes “APPOINTMENT OF ACTING PRESIDENT PRO TEMPORE” in the Senate section on June 9

Volume 167, No. 100, covering the 1st Session of the 117th Congress (2021 - 2022), was published by the Congressional Record.

The Congressional Record is a unique source of public documentation. It started in 1873, documenting nearly all the major and minor policies being discussed and debated.

“APPOINTMENT OF ACTING PRESIDENT PRO TEMPORE” mentioning Ben Ray Luján was published in the Senate section on page S3999 on June 9.

The PRESIDING OFFICER. The clerk will please read a communication to the Senate from the President pro tempore (Mr. Leahy).

The senior assistant legislative clerk read the following letter:

U.S. Senate,

President pro tempore,

Washington, DC, June 9, 2021.To the Senate:

Under the provisions of rule I, paragraph 3, of the Standing Rules of the Senate, I hereby appoint the Honorable Ben Ray Lujan, a Senator from the State of New Mexico, to perform the duties of the Chair.

Patrick J. Leahy,

President pro tempore.

Mr. LUJAN thereupon assumed the Chair as Acting President pro tempore.
