This Month at Albuquerque Museum: September 2021

Before you visit the museum, check the website for updates and possible changes.
Reserve your tickets online, in advance at HOLD MY TICKET. Masks are required indoors
for all museum staff and visitors, regardless of vaccination status.

In the Amphitheater
 
Sept. 4 | Under the Stars
Join us for the final concert of the 2021 season of Under the Stars presented by New Mexico Jazz Workshop. Tickets for Albuquerque Jazz Orchestra featuring the High School Honor band and Hillary Smith at Hold My Ticket.

Sept. 10–12 | Opera Southwest
Opera Southwest is pleased to bring the music of Rossini to the beautiful outdoor setting of the Albuquerque Museum Amphitheater. Tickets for La Scala di Seta at Eventbrite.

Classes and Workshops for Children & Families

Youth Studio: Music and Visual Art
Wednesdays, beginning Sept. 8, 9:30–11:30 a.m.
Register today for this 6-week class for students ages 6 to 10 years old. The relationship between music and art will be explored through clay, painting, and drawing.
Space is limited. Registration is required. $85

Family Art Workshops
Saturdays, beginning Sept. 11, 1 - 2:30 p.m.
We are glad to welcome families back to the museum outdoors in the Amphitheater. Try your hand working with a variety of art mediums — all materials supplied.
The workshop is free with your paid general admission.

Preschool Class: Shapes and Colors
Wednesdays, beginning Sept. 15, 1–2:30 p.m.
There are still spaces available for this 4-week class for children 4 and 5 years old and their caregiver. Explore shapes, colors, the five senses, and our associations with them.
Space is limited. Registration is required. $80

Take a Docent-led Tour

Old Town Walking Tours
Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays & Sundays at 11 a.m. 
Explore historic Old Town on foot with our informative docents who will provide insight into the people and places that shaped our early community.

Sculpture Garden Tours
Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11 a.m.
Enjoy a pleasant stroll in our sculpture garden with a friendly docent who will share stories about the artists and their works.

Gallery Tours
Tuesdays–Sundays at 2 p.m. beginning Sept. 7 
Docent guided tours of select gallery exhibitions are offered year around. No reservations necessary for individuals and families. Tours are limited 10 individuals; first-come, first-served.

3rd Thursdays are "Live After 5"
Thursday, Sept. 16, 5:00–8:30 p.m. 
Albuquerque Museum stays open late for an evening inspired by the 1930s and 1940s, and the exhibition of Another World. Visit the galleries. At 6:30 p.m., join us for YogaZo. From 5:30 to 8 p.m., grab a cocktail from Slate at the museum and listen to live music by 3 on a Match in the Amphitheater. Admission is free.

Artist demonstrations, traditional music, heritage arts, and more.

In partnership with the Albuquerque Public Schools Fine Arts program, an online showcase of student photography.

Eye to I closes Sept. 12
Self-portraits from the National Portrait Gallery featuring works by Elaine de Kooning, Fritz Scholder, Chuck Close, more.

Another World closes Sept. 26
Imaginative and spiritual works by Agnes Pelton, Raymond Jonson, Emil Bisttram, more.
