August 19, 2021 – Welcome back to the Museum
3rd Thursday:
Chatter
August 19, 2021 | 6–8 p.m.
Masks are required indoors for all Museum staff and visitors, regardless of vaccination status.
6 p.m. Chatter performs in the Ventana Salon
Please note: Ticketed seating for this concert is sold out. You will be able to enjoy the music from the lobby in an informal atmosphere.
Returning to the aesthetic world of the Transcendental Painting Group, Chatter presents a major work of Ruth Crawford Seeger, Music for Small Orchestra, alongside the famous Appalachian Spring by Aaron Copland, who visited New Mexico in 1928 and soaked up the arts and geography of the region while searching for a deeply American sound. Chatter will also perform the visually virtuosic Concert for Piano and Orchestra by John Cage — a work that was dedicated to Elaine de Kooning whose self-portrait appears in the museum’s exhibit, Eye to I.
