The City of Santa Fe announced on April 25 that its Planning and Land Use Department is developing a new Development Review Guide aimed at making the city’s development review and building permitting processes clearer and more accessible.

The initiative is intended to benefit both applicants and city staff by providing a resource that explains procedures, clarifies expectations, and fosters transparency. According to the announcement, the guide will help create a shared understanding of how these processes work in Santa Fe.

As part of this effort, city officials are asking for feedback from individuals who have experience with Santa Fe’s development review or permitting processes. Residents are encouraged to participate in an anonymous survey, which takes approximately 10–20 minutes to complete. The survey will remain open until May 11, 2026.

The city has asked community members to share the survey with their networks, including colleagues who have been involved in related projects. Officials say that gathering this input will help identify opportunities for improvement within existing procedures.

This effort reflects ongoing attempts by local government to make municipal operations more predictable and consistent for all participants. The City of Santa Fe said it values public engagement as it works toward updating its policies.
