The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) has opened the floor for public comments on its Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) Amendment 7, covering the federal fiscal years 2024 to 2029. This program is part of NMDOT’s short-term planning for the state’s federal aid highway initiatives, which began on October 1, 2023.
The STIP is developed through a comprehensive process that includes federally mandated Performance Measures and aligns with the NMDOT’s Long Range Planning document. It aims to address New Mexico’s multimodal transportation needs while supporting the department’s vision. The initial four years of this six-year plan are fiscally constrained, while the latter two focus on planning and programming larger projects.
This program encompasses multi-modal transportation projects funded by federal, state, local, and private sources. It features projects of regional significance as well as those in National Parks, National Forests, and Indian Reservations.
Amendment 7 is now available for public review until June 18, 2025. Comments can be submitted via the eSTIP Amendment tab on their website by selecting individual projects under each NMDOT District. Instructions for submitting comments are provided online.
