The Powerball jackpot for the drawing on Monday, December 8, 2025, is estimated at $875 million, with a cash value of $403.6 million. This makes it the seventh-largest Powerball jackpot in U.S. lottery history.

According to the New Mexico Lottery, Powerball jackpots have previously been won five times in New Mexico. There have also been numerous winners of prizes of $1 million and above for both Powerball and Mega Millions in the state.

Players are encouraged to check their tickets after the draw for non-jackpot prizes, which range from $4 to $1 million. These prizes can be increased if players choose the Power Play option.

New Mexico Lottery CEO David Barden said, “New Mexico Lottery CEO David Barden reminds players to have fun and play responsibly.”

Tickets for tonight’s draw can be purchased until 8:00 p.m. Mountain Time.

Powerball tickets cost $2 per play. Players can add Power Play for an additional $1 per play to multiply non-jackpot prizes by up to ten times. Another feature, Double Play, is available for $1 per play and gives players a second chance to win up to $10 million in a separate drawing held after the main draw on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday nights.

Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. More than half of each ticket sale remains in the jurisdiction where it was sold. Drawings take place at the Florida Lottery studio in Tallahassee and are broadcast live and streamed online at Powerball.com.

Since its inception in 1996, the New Mexico Lottery has contributed over $1.1 billion toward education funding through Legislative Lottery Scholarships. More than 161,000 students have benefited from these scholarships by attending college.
