The Powerball jackpot has reached an estimated $815 million for the drawing scheduled on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. The cash value of the prize is set at approximately $367.9 million.

This current jackpot ranks as the seventh largest in Powerball history and is the highest since early 2024. Previous record jackpots include a $2.04 billion prize won in California in November 2022 and a $1.765 billion jackpot also claimed in California in October 2023.

David Barden, CEO of the New Mexico Lottery, issued a reminder to participants: “Players are also reminded to check their tickets after the draw for non-jackpot prizes. Non-jackpot prizes range from $4 to $1 million that can be multiplied if the player purchases the Power Play option.” He also encouraged responsible play: “New Mexico Lottery CEO David Barden reminds players to have fun and play responsibly.”

If a ticket sold in New Mexico wins this week’s jackpot, it would mark the sixth time a Powerball jackpot has been claimed in the state and would be the largest such win for New Mexico.

Tickets for Wednesday’s drawing can be purchased until 8:00 p.m. Mountain Time on August 27.

Powerball tickets cost $2 per play, with two additional features available: Power Play, which multiplies non-jackpot winnings for an extra dollar per play, and Double Play, offering another chance at up to $10 million for an additional dollar per play.

Powerball tickets are available in 45 states plus Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Over half of all ticket sales revenue stays within the jurisdiction where tickets are sold. Drawings take place live from Tallahassee, Florida and are broadcast both on television and via online streaming at https://www.powerball.com/.

Since its inception in 1996, proceeds from lottery sales have supported education initiatives across New Mexico. The New Mexico Lottery reports that more than $1.08 billion has been raised for educational funding through these games, enabling over 155,000 students to attend college using Legislative Lottery Scholarships.
