The estimated Powerball jackpot for the Saturday, August 30, 2025 drawing has been increased to $1 billion, with a cash value of $453.1 million. This marks the sixth time in Powerball’s 33-year history that the jackpot has reached or surpassed the billion-dollar mark.

Historically, the largest Powerball jackpots include a $2.04 billion prize won in California on November 7, 2022, and a $1.765 billion jackpot also claimed in California on October 11, 2023. Other top prizes have been awarded in states such as Florida, Tennessee, Oregon, Michigan, Wisconsin, Massachusetts, and Washington.

If a New Mexico player wins this upcoming draw, it would be the sixth time the state has produced a Powerball jackpot winner and would set a new record for the largest lottery prize ever won in New Mexico.

David Barden, CEO of the New Mexico Lottery, stated: “Jackpots this large don’t come around very often, so this is a very exciting time for players. However, please remember to play responsibly and keep it fun. You only need one ticket for a chance to win.”

Players in New Mexico can purchase tickets until 8:00 p.m. Mountain Time on Saturday for their chance at the prize.

Powerball tickets cost $2 per play. Players may choose additional features such as Power Play—which multiplies non-jackpot prizes by up to ten times for an extra dollar—and Double Play for another dollar per play. The Double Play feature offers participants another opportunity to match numbers in a second drawing held after each regular draw on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights.

Tickets are available across 45 states as well as Washington D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Over half of all ticket sale proceeds remain within each jurisdiction where they are sold. Drawings take place live from Tallahassee at the Florida Lottery studio and are streamed online at https://www.powerball.com/.

Since its inception in 1996, https://www.nmlottery.com/ reports that more than $1.08 billion has been raised by the New Mexico Lottery for education initiatives within the state; over 155,000 students have benefited from Legislative Lottery Scholarships funded through these proceeds.
