The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) and Greyhound have announced the start of a new intercity bus service connecting Albuquerque, Farmington, Bernalillo, Cuba, and Durango, Colorado. The service, identified as a need in the Statewide Public Transportation Plan, will operate five days a week with one round trip per day. The route will also connect with Navajo Transit and Red Apple Transit in Farmington, providing additional access for residents.

NMDOT Secretary Ricky Serna stated, “We are proud to partner with Greyhound to provide this link between Farmington and Albuquerque and to connect with Red Apple Transit and Navajo Transit, our local partners in the New Mexico public transportation network. Affordable public transportation along long-distance corridors are essential to connect our communities and expand travel options.”

A ribbon cutting event to mark the launch of the new route is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 17 at 9:30 a.m. at Animas Valley Mall in Farmington.

Kevin Olinger, NMDOT Transit and Rail Division Director, commented, “There are very limited transportation options for individuals that live in these areas of the state, if they don’t have a vehicle, family or friends to transport them for medical appointments or quality of life services.”

Kai Boysan, CEO of Flix North America, Greyhound’s parent company, said, “Connecting communities is at the heart of Greyhound’s mission. Our partnership with the NMDOT strengthens regional connectivity and makes it easier for New Mexico residents to access economic opportunities, education, and essential services. Intercity buses play a vital role, especially in rural areas, offering an affordable and reliable alternative to driving or flying for those with limited transportation options. We look forward to serving local communities and making long-distance travel more accessible and convenient across the Southwest.”

The bus stops will be located at:
– Greyhound Bus Station, 320 1st St SW, Albuquerque, NM
– Sandoval County/U.S. 550 Rail Runner Station, 400 Station Street, Bernalillo, NM
– Phillips 66 Gas Station, 6454 Main St, Cuba, NM
– Animas Valley Mall, 4601 E Main St, Farmington, NM
– Durango Transit Center, 250 W 8th St, Durango, CO

Tickets for the new service can be purchased at www.greyhound.com, www.flixbus.com, or through the Greyhound and FlixBus mobile apps.
