NM State softball ends season with extra-inning loss to Louisiana Tech

NM State ended its Conference USA Tournament run on May 7 after an 11-inning game against Louisiana Tech at the Delaware Softball Diamond. The Aggies lost the matchup 3–1, concluding their season.

The game was marked by strong pitching performances and multiple extra-inning opportunities for both teams. Skye Johnson put NM State ahead in the fifth inning with a solo home run, but Louisiana Tech tied the score and eventually took the lead in the eleventh inning.

Faith Aragon pitched all eleven innings for NM State, allowing three runs and striking out eleven batters. Aragon’s performance set a new program record for strikeouts in a single season, finishing with 244 total strikeouts. Johnson’s home run was NM State’s only run of the contest, while Kendal Lunar added a double and Tamara Carranza reached base twice, including a pinch-hit single during extra innings.

Thursday’s game concluded NM State’s season with an overall record of 27–27 and a Conference USA mark of 16–11. The team thanked its fans, alumni, families, and supporters for their support throughout the year.

Looking ahead, NM State will announce its schedule for next season later this year.
