NM State lost to Missouri State, 9-1, on May 9 in Springfield at Route 66. The Aggies recorded five hits and left ten runners on base during the game.

The result moves NM State’s overall record to 19-30 and their Conference USA record to 8-18. The loss is the second straight for NM State in Springfield.

Missouri State took an early lead by scoring in the second inning and added four runs in the third, including a three-run home run. They extended their advantage with two more runs in the fifth inning and another pair in the seventh. NM State managed its only run of the game when Easton Rulli singled and later scored on an RBI single from Noah Massey during the seventh inning.

Jack Turner pitched five innings for NM State and was charged with the loss. Fabian Ibarra and Cade Shumard combined for three innings of relief work to finish out the contest.

Notable performances included Noah Massey recording his third hit and second RBI as a freshman, which also marked his first multi-hit game. Steve Solorzano extended his hitting streak to eleven games, currently the longest active streak among Aggie players. Tommy Meluskey has now reached base safely in thirteen consecutive games, also leading all Aggies in that category this season. Jack Turner has pitched at least five innings in each of his last three starts after achieving that milestone only twice earlier this year.

NM State will look to avoid being swept for a fifth time this season when they play again on Sunday.
