NM State ended its 2026 baseball season on May 16 with a 30-21 loss to Florida International University at Presley Askew Field at Johnson Stadium. The Panthers won the series in the deciding game, and the Aggies finished their season with a record of 20 wins and 34 losses overall, including a 9-21 mark in Conference USA play.

The final game was notable for its high offensive output from both teams. NM State recognized ten seniors before the start: Camden Kaufman, Aidan Lombardi, Aidan Taclas, Colton Sneddon, Julio Ramos, Bryce Campbell, Jack Turner, Jake Carvajal, Dane Woodcook and Connor Wylde.

During the game, NM State responded after FIU scored six runs in the first two innings by scoring one run in the first inning and two more in the second. The Aggies had a strong stretch through the middle innings that included a four-run fourth inning and briefly took the lead. They continued to score throughout all nine innings for a total of 21 runs on 16 hits. Steve Solorzano led NM State’s offense with four hits and two RBIs; Aidan Taclas, Easton Rulli, Boston Vest, Aidan Lombardi and Camden Kaufman each contributed multiple RBIs.

FIU pulled away late by scoring eleven runs in the seventh inning followed by six runs each in both the eighth and ninth innings. Despite this surge from FIU’s offense—who finished with thirty runs on twenty-eight hits—the Aggies continued to compete until game’s end. NM State added six runs in their half of the eighth inning and two more in the ninth; Taclas hit a two-run home run as part of that rally.

Several individual achievements were highlighted: Solorzano completed his junior year on a sixteen-game hitting streak; Lombardi set a new career-high with four RBIs; Kaufman made his pitching debut; Vest recorded his twenty-fourth hit-by-pitch of the season—a program record—and Jonatan Clough tied for seventh all-time at NM State for triples in one year.

The conclusion marked an end to an eventful season for NM State baseball.
