NM State and Liberty completed a weather-affected baseball series on May 2 at Presley Askew Field at Johnson Stadium, with the Aggies losing both games. The Flames won the suspended opener 15-4 and took the second game of the day by a score of 9-7. NM State’s overall record now stands at 19-22, with an 8-15 mark in Conference USA.

The first game was originally halted on Friday night after four innings due to rain, tied at three runs each. When play resumed Saturday, Liberty quickly gained momentum, scoring in the fifth inning and adding multiple runs in the later frames. The Aggies managed only one run after resumption and were outscored by eleven runs over the final five innings.

In game two, NM State responded with a strong start and built a lead through multi-hit performances from six players. Steve Solorzano and Bryce Campbell each collected three hits while Jonatan Clough, Aidan Taclas, Chris Daniels, and Camden Kaufman had two hits apiece. Despite leading 7-3 entering the seventh inning, Liberty rallied for three runs in both the seventh and ninth innings to complete their comeback victory.

The loss marked NM State’s first defeat this season when holding a lead into the seventh inning; previously they were undefeated in such situations with a record of 14-0 when leading after six innings. Chris Daniels extended his hitting streak to thirteen games—the longest active streak among Aggie players—and Julio Ramos set personal bests as an Aggie by pitching two-and-a-third innings with four strikeouts.

Bryce Campbell matched his career-high for hits at Division I level during his second start since April 10. Jack Turner also continued his consistency on the mound by throwing six innings for his fourth five-plus-inning outing in his last five starts.
