Newcomb High School will hold its first-ever First Responders Day on May 5, inviting students, parents, and community members to learn about careers in public safety through live demonstrations and direct interactions with professionals.
The event aims to connect attendees with local, state, and federal agencies and provide insight into career pathways in emergency services. It will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Newcomb High School, located at Indian Service Route 19B and Skyhawk Loop in Newcomb.
More than a dozen agencies are scheduled to participate, including the Navajo Nation Police, Indian Health Service, Federal Bureau of Investigation, New Mexico State Police, U.S. Army, D.A.R.E., San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Air Force, Navajo Fire Services, National Guard, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Navajo Missing Person Division and VTAC. The event features interactive demonstrations and equipment displays as well as opportunities for direct questions with first responders from law enforcement to firefighting and emergency medicine.
The organizer of the event is Lead Safety Advisor Jeff Wood.
