The New Mexico Department of Agriculture (NMDA) has announced that it is now accepting applications for its NEW MEXICO—Taste the Tradition Chef Ambassador Program. This program provides chefs with the chance to represent and promote New Mexico agriculture through various platforms such as food, media, and live events both within the state and on a national level.

The initiative was created by NMDA’s Marketing and Development Division in 2018. It aims to give chefs the opportunity to advocate for local agriculture, engage with consumers, and highlight products grown in New Mexico. According to Jeff Witte, the New Mexico Secretary of Agriculture, “New Mexico agriculture is about families feeding families—and it’s vital to our state’s economy.” He added that locally produced items from New Mexico reach markets and restaurants across the country and beyond.

Applications are open until Friday, June 20, 2025. Those interested can find application materials and further details online. Completed applications along with required attachments must be emailed with the applicant’s name included in the subject line.
