The New Mexico Lobos baseball team defeated the New Mexico State Aggies 12-6 in their final home game of the season, according to a May 12 announcement. The game took place at Lobo Field and featured a decisive seven-run seventh inning for the Lobos.

The win brings the Lobos’ regular-season record to 28-22-1 overall and 12-11-1 in Mountain West Conference play. With all regular-season games complete, the team will enter the postseason as either the No. 4 or No. 5 seed in the Mountain West Conference Tournament, facing Nevada in their first-round matchup.

After struggling offensively with four straight losses where they scored five or fewer runs, the Lobos rebounded by scoring eleven runs against Grand Canyon University on Sunday and twelve runs against New Mexico State on Tuesday. Trailing by one run entering the bottom of the fifth inning, New Mexico scored three times to regain control before breaking open a close game with seven runs on six hits in the seventh inning.

Key contributors included Luke Mansy, who hit two doubles and drove in two runs; Khalil Walker, who went three-for-five with two runs scored; Antonio Gianni, who added two hits including an RBI double; and Anthony Diaz, Akili Carris, Lenny Ashby, Gene Trujillo, Brodey Williams, and Tristan Russell each contributing at least one hit. On pitching duty, Cooper Corkrean started for four innings allowing just one run before Ty Cunningham earned the win with four innings of relief work.

All nine spots in New Mexico’s lineup produced at least one hit as they finished with thirteen hits and drew nine walks during the contest. The Aggies were prevented from sweeping this season’s series between these rivals.

Looking ahead, “The Lobos get the weekend off before heading to Mesa, Ariz. for the 2026 MW Baseball Championships,” according to team officials. First round action begins May 21 and tournament games will be available for free streaming via GoLobos.com/Watch.
