Open space officers responded to a lost hiker call on the la luz trail in reference to a 23 year old male who  had gone missing from his party while hiking. He was not dressed for the weather . While driving to the trail on forest road 333 an open space ranger observed some movement in the brush along the road. He immediately stopped and located a shirtless male who was visibly distraught limping walking in flip flops with a makeshift bandage around his knee held on with a key chain lanyard. Rangers were able to get him to the side of the road. Rescue was immediately summoned. The male said he fell after hiking off trail in flip flops and losing his friends . Open space rangers want to remind everyone to always be prepared . Have good hiking shoes, food , charged phone, water, extra clothing and never go alone.
