Las Cruces Public Schools announced on May 7 that graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2026 will take place on Friday, May 22 and Saturday, May 23 at the Pan American Center on the campus of New Mexico State University.
The announcement is important for students, families, and community members who are preparing to celebrate this milestone. The district is providing guidance to ensure a safe and smooth experience for all attendees.
Families and guests are encouraged to arrive early to allow time for parking, entry, and security screening prior to each ceremony. The ceremonies will follow the same clear bag policy used at New Mexico State University athletic and special events. This includes clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags no larger than 12” x 6” x 12”, with exceptions made for medically necessary items and diaper bags.
The schedule lists Mayfield High School’s ceremony at 9 a.m., Arrowhead Park Early College High School at 1:30 p.m., and Las Cruces High School at 6 p.m. on Friday. On Saturday, Centennial High School’s ceremony is set for 9 a.m., Rio Grande Preparatory Institute at 1:30 p.m., and Organ Mountain High School at 6 p.m.
To help ensure safety during the event, balloons, large signs or photos, glass vases, air horns or artificial noisemakers, flags of any kind, beach balls or confetti cannons, weapons or laser pointers, fireworks, outside food or beverages, large umbrellas (compact umbrellas are permitted), smoking including e-cigarettes or vaping devices, animals other than ADA-compliant service animals as well as professional cameras with tripods or selfie sticks will not be allowed inside the Pan American Center.
Parking will be available in lots east and southeast of the venue. For those unable to attend in person, LCPS-TV will livestream all ceremonies via the district YouTube channel. Translation services in multiple languages can be accessed using a QR code published in each school’s commencement program.
