A man from Jemez Pueblo has been sentenced to 63 months in federal prison for sexually abusing two minors. Tyler Chinana, 35, an enrolled member of the Jemez Pueblo, was convicted for incidents involving unlawful sexual contact with two victims under the age of 12. The first incident occurred in 2012, and a separate incident took place in November 2022.
Chinana pleaded guilty to two counts of abusive sexual contact. After serving his prison term, he will be subject to ten years of supervised release and must register as a sexual offender. There is no parole in the federal system.
U.S. Attorney Ryan Ellison and Acting Special Agent in Charge Philip Russell of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Albuquerque Field Office announced the sentencing. “The FBI’s Albuquerque Field Office investigated this case with the assistance of the Jemez Pueblo Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Meg Tomlinson prosecuted the case.”
