More than $100 million will be invested in 71 projects across New Mexico through the Transportation Project Fund (TPF) program, according to a recent announcement. District Three is set to receive over $15.3 million of that total for roadway improvements, providing six local municipalities with a 95% funding match.

“Supporting local entities provides vital resources for improving roads, bridges, and airports. Without this funding, many New Mexico communities would face challenges in making the infrastructure upgrades necessary for growth and development,” stated Acting District Three Engineer, Isaac Chavez.

Projects in District Three include $1.9 million for Barcelona Roadside Streets in Bernalillo County; $3.3 million and $1.9 million for Western Hills Drive and Barbara Loop reconstructions respectively in Rio Rancho; $4.75 million for the Paseo del Volcan Extension in Sandoval County; as well as various road improvements in Peralta, Los Lunas, and Tijeras.

District Three works with three counties, 16 municipalities, and eight tribal governments. It also includes the Mid-Region Council of Governments (MRCOG), which is the largest Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) in the area.
