New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham is set to lead a trade mission to Asia, focusing on strengthening business ties and promoting the state’s role in advanced energy technologies and computing. The delegation, which includes New Mexico’s Economic Development Director Rob Black and Deputy Chief Operating Officer Caroline Buerkle, will visit Singapore and Japan.
“This mission represents a tremendous opportunity to showcase New Mexico’s energy innovation and advanced technology sectors to key international partners,” said Lujan Grisham. “We’re focusing on creating jobs and attracting investment to our state while strengthening relationships with companies already doing business in New Mexico.”
In Singapore, the governor plans to meet with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to discuss foreign direct investment opportunities. The delegation will also engage with Temasek Holdings’ chair, attend an energy roundtable, and tour infrastructure projects.
While in Japan, meetings with Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba will cover energy and technology partnerships. The schedule includes briefings at the U.S. Embassy, attending a technology and energy roundtable, and meeting with Japan’s leading energy policy experts. The U.S. Ambassador will host a reception for the governor as well.
The trip, funded by The New Mexico Partnership, concludes with the governor returning to the United States on April 29. Lujan Grisham will meet with the New Mexico Amigos in Los Angeles before heading back to New Mexico.
