Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham will join a U.S. delegation of over 100 local leaders at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Brazil this November. The governor will participate in the COP30 Local Leaders Forum alongside Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, Gina McCarthy of America Is All In, and Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego.
The group is organized by America Is All In, Climate Mayors, and the U.S. Climate Alliance. Their aim is to highlight how cities and states are continuing climate progress in the United States and reaffirming their commitment to international cooperation on climate issues. According to organizers, “Participating U.S. leaders will reinforce their commitment to the Paris Agreement’s goals and share local climate solutions that are lowering energy costs, growing jobs, and cutting dangerous pollution.”
Key events involving Governor Lujan Grisham include a press conference on November 3 in Rio de Janeiro with Governor Evers and other state officials. They plan to release the coalition’s 2025 Annual Report, which details efforts by member states to reduce climate pollution, drive economic growth, and support clean energy development.
On November 4 in Rio de Janeiro, she will also take part in the America Is All In Solutions Exchange with other national leaders such as Mayor Gallego and Gina McCarthy. This event aims to show international partners how American cities and states continue advancing policies for lower energy costs and job creation despite federal challenges.
At COP30 on November 11 in Belem, Governor Lujan Grisham will join policymakers from various sectors to emphasize how subnational leaders are contributing to climate action and fostering collaboration with global partners.
The delegation includes experienced international climate policy experts Todd Stern, Trigg Talley, and Genevieve Maricle who will provide guidance as state and local leaders expand their engagement with counterparts abroad.
