Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has appointed Kyle Harwood to the State Game Commission, filling the position left by retiring District 4 Commissioner Sharon Hickey. Harwood will serve for the remainder of Hickey’s term, which concludes in February 2026, following the adjournment of the New Mexico Legislature.

Harwood is an attorney with expertise in land and water law as well as regulatory and policy matters throughout New Mexico. He currently serves on the Legal Specialization Commission of the State Bar of New Mexico. In addition to his legal work, Harwood is a member of the Governor’s Water Ambassadors Taskforce and previously served on the Governor’s Blue Ribbon Water Taskforce from 2003 to 2010.

His educational background includes a Juris Doctor from the University of New Mexico School of Law, a Master of Public Administration in Water Resources from UNM, and a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources from Cornell University.
