Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has announced an emergency order to allocate $750,000 in state funding for flood response efforts in Doña Ana County. The governor emphasized the urgent need for action due to severe flooding in Vado.

“Vado is facing devastating flooding, and this crisis demands immediate action,” said Gov. Lujan Grisham. “New Mexico is mobilizing resources to support this resilient community through recovery.”

The executive order directs the New Mexico Department of Finance Administration to distribute the funds to the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHSEM) for emergency operations.

Additionally, New Mexico has sought assistance from FEMA for preliminary damage assessments next week, which will help determine eligibility for federal aid.

Residents seeking assistance can contact the State Disaster Helpline at 1-833-663-4736 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., or visit the DHSEM website for more information.
