FOIA Request to Eddy County NM Clerk & Election Division Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

In our ongoing efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Enchantment State News have submitted a request for records under the New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act, 14-2-1 NMSA 1978 et seq. The request was sent electronically to the Eddy County NM Clerk & Election Division.

Our request specifically seeks a list of all candidates running in the upcoming election. We’ve asked for detailed information about each candidate including their first, middle, and last names; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; and party affiliation.

Additionally, we have requested all available contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.

As members of the media committed to transparency and holding public institutions accountable, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals given our role in disseminating information to the public.
