City Manager Matt Geisel provided the Recommended Fiscal Year 2027 Budget for municipal government operations and services, along with the Capital Program for fiscal years 2027 through 2031, to the Mayor and City Council on April 15. The budget covers city activities from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027.
The review of this proposed budget is an important step in planning how Rio Rancho will deliver its municipal services in the coming year. Residents can view the full FY 27 Recommended Budget and Capital Program by visiting rrnm.gov/fy27budget.
According to the City Charter, Mayor Greggory D. Hull has until April 25 to review the recommended budget and capital program before submitting written comments to Geisel. The Governing Body—which includes both the Mayor and City Council—will hold a public hearing about the proposal at City Hall (3200 Civic Center Circle) at 9 a.m. on May 1. This hearing will be streamed live and archived on the city’s website for public access.
Public comments are invited during regular monthly meetings scheduled for May 14 and May 28 at City Hall at 6 p.m., with a vote on adopting the FY 27 Budget and Capital Program planned for May 28. In July, after closing out financials from Fiscal Year 2026 (ending June), officials will consider final adjustments before voting again on a final version of next year’s budget.
