APD SWAT officers arrested a murder suspect and another wanted individual following a stand-off Wednesday at a residence in Barelas, south of Downtown.

Anjanette Martinez, 29, was taken into custody Wednesday evening by SWAT officers at an apartment located at 704 Pacific Ave., S.W. Detectives had been searching for Martinez, who was charged for the April 17, 2022, murder of Miguel Sanchez.

Martinez was charged with an open count of murder for her involvement in the shooting death of Sanchez at the Quality Inn & Suites, located at 1315 Menaul Blvd., N.E.

Martinez told detectives she took some items from a motel room the night of the incident. Two people tried to stop her as she and another man, Matthew Martinez, attempted to leave in a Dodge Durango. Shots were fired from the Durango, striking and killing Sanchez.

Matthew Martinez, 27, was also charged for the murder. He was arrested by APD detectives on Nov. 3, 2022.
